Since the 1970s, empathy has been declining in the US and narcissism has been on the rise. It is believed that the source of this trend is the development of the Internet and the increasing use of social media, which encourages self-promotion and focuses on the self. At the same time, the increased number of contacts causes a reduction in the quality of relationships, because the amount of time available for building them is constant.
Empathy is an extremely important component of a healthy society and a good team, and it is one of the most important business skills of the 21st century. Therefore, any tool that increases the chances of understanding a situation and another person’s different position should be helpful both in business and in everyday life. The paradox is that the more we interact with people, the less empathetic we become.
